WHAT IS RISE?

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion In Commercial Real Estate

Too often we only think about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiatives on a surface level — when they are publicly announced or promoted in marketing materials — instead of measuring the quantifiable, positive and long-term impacts they can have on a business. That needs to change. 


Over 2021 and 2022, Bisnow was proud to deliver the Rise Initiative U.S., an annual programme dedicated to recognising progress in DEI, with a defined focus on measuring actual progress. The programme shone a light on organisations that hold themselves accountable, and shared meaningful strategies to help CRE reshape itself as an industry and community. The honourees were recognised at our inaugural Rise Initiative Gala.

Now, Bisnow is pleased to bring this programme to the UK for the first time, and Bisnow is calling the industry to submit their DEI programmes here for The Rise Initiative UK.

HOW DO WE RISE?

IDEAS INTO ACTION: We want to crowdsource successfully executed actions and initiatives that have helped to deconstruct socioeconomic barriers within the industry. Rise is looking for successfully executed recruitment, retention and advancement programmes. We know these programmes won’t be perfect, and won’t have reached an end point and already achieved their goal. But we would like to highlight the companies that are being methodical and accountable. Through that, Rise UK will help to define a collective benchmark for DEI progress that the industry can strive towards.

THE STEERING COMMITTEE

Bisnow has recruited a diverse group of industry experts to shape the programme and independently evaluate all submissions. Submissions are considered on their own merit and in confidence. Bisnow staff will not appraise any of the submissions. The Steering Committee abides by Non-Disclosure Agreements and any conflicts of interest from our experts will also be declared.

We want to hear from organisations, who are making strides in DEI to increase visibility, transparency and shared learnings across the industry.

WHAT

Rise is looking for successfully executed recruitment and retention programmes. We are not looking for a firm’s DEI mission or overall approach but one specific programme. Concise stories, specific examples, and data-driven results will be more heavily weighted.

WHEN

The entry deadline is 13 of March 2023. Honourees will be announced two weeks prior to the event.
